INTRODUCING NEW BARRIER REPAIR FACIAL

INTRODUCING NEW BARRIER REPAIR FACIAL

In skincare, authentic, industry-shaking innovation does not happen overnight — it takes decades-long know-how, countless iterations, independent clinical testing and considerate input from experts and everyday users. Years in the making, R&R Glow, launched in 2024 as part of our new clinic range, is the result of this lengthy but fruitful process.

50% less redness in one hour; a 270% boost in hydration levels with just one application; significant skin barrier function improvement after 4 weeks of consistent use: these are some of the award-winning results achieved in the clinical and consumer trials for R&R Glow. Results that have since inspired Sarah to create a new facial treatment centred around the hydro-balm’s advanced skin repair and anti-inflammatory benefits — the Barrier Repair facial.

INTRODUCING NEW BARRIER REPAIR FACIAL - Sarah Chapman

Now available exclusively at our London clinic, the Barrier Repair facial builds upon the soothing and restorative formula of R&R Glow, enhancing its effects with state-of-the-art technology, including near-infrared light therapy and cryotherapy, anti-redness peels, a medical-grade, sterile mask and lymphatic massage techniques. Skin whose barrier has been damaged, stressed-out or sensitised by strong skincare actives (the likes of retinal), environmental aggressors, or laser and energy treatments can benefit from this treatment.

“In our clinic, we’ve seen an increasing number of clients presenting skin barrier dysfunction and delicate skin. Treating such fragile skin requires a different approach, one that prioritises rebuilding and restoring the barrier before introducing intensive facial treatments. With this in mind, I set out to take skin barrier repair and care for sensitised skin even further, providing my clients with a clear and effective roadmap to achieving healthy, resilient skin after any form of damage or disruption”

A HIGH-TECH APPROACH TO SKIN RECOVERY

There are two key technologies at work in the Barrier Repair facial: Dermalux Tri-Wave MD, which boasts Medical CE certification for wound healing using near-infrared therapy, and cryotherapy.

The use of Dermalux’s regenerating near-infrared light at 830 nanometres allows us to target the skin’s deepest layers and accelerate repair while reducing inflammation. By stimulating specific cellular processes within the skin, this treatment triggers a boost in blood flow and lymph activity and encourages the production of collagen, elastin and growth factors — namely TGF-b and FGF, key players in wound healing and tissue regeneration. Suitable for even the most sensitive skin, near-infrared light therapy also leaves the complexion with a radiant finish, courtesy of better blood circulation.

For additional skin relief and comfort, light therapy is followed by a medical-grade, sterile mask, which readies the skin for the next treatment: cryotherapy – a therapeutic procedure where low temperatures are applied to the skin to cause blood vessels to constrict. This helps reduce inflammation, minimise redness and puffiness, improve blood flow and enhance circulation, speeding up the skin’s recovery in the process.

Expertly designed from surgical-grade stainless steel, CryoGlobes are used in the Barrier Repair facial to elicit these responses – and more. These professional tools come with myriad extra benefits, from smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles to reducing the appearance of pores and tightening the skin. Plus, by improving circulation, they also leave the complexion with an immediate healthy glow.

YOUR BESPOKE SHORTCUT TO OPTIMAL SKIN HEALTH

At our London clinic, all facials are fully bespoke, and the new Barrier Repair treatment is no exception. To personalise the treatment protocol to each client’s depth of damage and inflammation, the facial begins with an in-depth skin analysis using the VISIA Skin Health Scanner, which captures both the skin’s surface and deeper layers. The same scanner is used throughout a treatment course – ideally comprising 4-6 sessions with 4-6 weeks in between – to monitor progress and results before every appointment.

We also employed this cutting-edge skin assessment to test the efficacy of the Barrier Repair facial on a client with established skin barrier dysfunction, heightened sensitivity, eczema and rosacea (a skin condition that manifests as chronic facial redness or ‘flushing’). The results speak for themselves.

REDNESS VISIBLY REDUCED

After a single treatment session, VISIA showed a significant reduction in concentrated darker red areas in the papillary dermis, detected via RBX technology. These irregularities can be related to conditions like inflammation and spider veins, also known as broken capillaries – a common symptom of rosacea. The client’s feedback was equally positive.

"I have always suffered with sensitive, reactive dry skin and have struggled with products no matter how gentle they claim to be. The barrier repair facial has been an absolute godsend for me. Redness has dramatically improved, irritation has gone and my skin has felt really hydrated. Most importantly, my skin feels comfortable and no longer tight and sensitive. I have complemented the facial with Sarah Chapman products, especially the R&R cream - none of which I have reacted to. My skin is clearer, smoother and plumper. I have received numerous compliments about my skin and cannot recommend this treatment enough!” – Emily, Sarah Chapman customer after two Barrier Repair facial treatments

POST-TREATMENT CARE POWERED BY R&R GLOW

For enhanced barrier care and strengthening in between appointments, clients receive a complimentary R&R Glow recovery cream (5ml) as part of the facial experience to apply at home alongside the bespoke skincare programme recommended by one of our therapists. Immediately soothing and fragrance-free, R&R Glow is suitable for even the most sensitive skin and easy to slot into any daytime or nighttime routine as a barrier boost; it can even double as a moisturiser to replace more intense formulas while skin is too fragile and reactive.

As skin’s ‘first line of defence’, the skin barrier encounters numerous daily threats that can weaken its integrity, potentially triggering inflammation and compromising the skin’s overall health. And once this fundamental layer has been damaged, it can take weeks to repair. Harnessing the latest technology in barrier care alongside proven clinical actives, our clinic’s new facial promises to speed up this process while addressing the tell-tale signs of barrier disruption, including redness, dryness and abnormal sensitivity. Expertly designed, tech-driven as well as physically and mentally soothing, Barrier Repair facial is an unprecedented addition to our clinic offering – and one we’ve been eager to bring to you.
